This is a before image of a kitchen renovation we completed in North Jackson. While it isn't too shabby to begin with, our homeowner wanted it to reflect their personality with a lighter and brighter feel.

So fresh! For the perimeter cabinets, we repainted them and added green soapstone countertops, which are also present in the home's bathrooms. The kitchen island was completely torn out and rebuilt with seating and storage, all topped with Calacatta Altissima marble. The ceilings were paneled with tongue-and-groove wood, and wood beam "skins" were ran the length of the room across the ceiling. Contractor's note: beam skins can be installed anywhere to give the look of exposed beams, and can either be real wood or faux. Here, the homeowner opted for real, hand-hewn beams. Gorgeous! Industrial light fixtures complete the look.

The wall between the kitchen and living area was torn down, and the previous screen porch was enclosed, giving additional heated square footage to the first floor of this home, which was then able to be used as a dining area. Expansive space, right? A steel beam is hidden in the ceiling, adding support for the second floor of the home.

Can you say light and bright? We replaced the old cabinets, installed new countertops and flooring, as well as installing a matching backsplash to tie it all together. New lighting and a new pendant fixture over the sink complete the look.
